Is there anyting else I should do to ensure that my license stays valid?

The most obvious way it so make sure you follow all FCC amateur radio regulations.  A less-obvious but important thing to do is to make sure the FCC always has your current mailing address.  You can update your address at any time at no cost using the FCC's ULS system.  There is no charge for changing your address.
